This bright and dark painting is based on Seahenge, a Neolithic find on the Southwest coast of Britain, involving a timber circle and an upturned oak tree. It consists of two 18x24 panels, equaling a total size of 36x24. The two panels represent an "above ground" realistic representation of the site as it was found, and an imaginary "netherworld" where the oak tree still lives.
This piece abounds in mysterious symbolism. In my blog entry about it, I discuss sky burials, The World Tree, The Underworld, and the Life/Death cycle, all combining to create this beautiful, life-affirming work of art. You can read about it HERE.
