In a lonely bedroom, a young person of ambiguous gender is in the act of dressing. The pose is frontal and iconographic, vaguely resembling the figure in the classic Rider-Waite tarot deck. This inspired the title, but "The Hanged Man" also evokes what we imagine life may be like for this youth, hanging between socially prescribed roles and trying to make the best of it they can.
